Maataa Opare is a dual qualified legal practitioner with over 24 years of experience in both the UK and Ghana. She currently serves as the Non-Executive Chairperson of Hawkhurst & Dua Property Services and is also the Founder and Managing Partner of Hawkhurst & Dua Associates, a boutique legal advisory firm supporting private clients and corporate institutions.She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Family Fountain Assets & Securities Limited.

She has held senior board positions and senior Executive positions including Group Head of Legal and Company Secretary at Fidelity Bank Ghana, as well as legal roles at Santander Private Banking UK and Bank of Cyprus UK.

Maataa holds a BSc in Politics and International Relations from the University of Southampton, legal qualifications from the College of Law in London and the Ghana School of Law, and an executive qualification in ESG and corporate governance.

She served on the Board of the Electricity Company of Ghana for seven years, where she contributed to corporate oversight and governance within the energy sector. During that time, she also served as Patron of the ECG Power Queens, championing gender equity and women’s empowerment in the workplace.

Her work has earned her numerous honours, including recognition in the Legal 500 General Counsel Powerlist Ghana, induction into the Ghana Feminine Hall of Fame, and being named among Ghana’s Top 100 Inspirational Women. In 2024, she was listed among the Top 100 Inspirational Female Founders, Professionals and Creators in Africa by the African Founders Conglomerate. She has also received awards from the Business Executive, the Head of State Award Scheme, and the Young African Women’s Congress.

She remains passionate about mentoring the next generation of female leaders and contributing to strong, ethical governance across industries.
